Process Mapping

Operational Excellence : Helping our client take the right first step of process mapping
Situation

Our client, primarily a Two Wheeler and Used Cars financing NBFC, with a houshold brand name in Indian market and overseas. The organisation was keen on embracing TQM and Operational Excellence across products and processes. They took us on board after a 2 days discovery exercise when we presented our key findings and approaches to underlying challenges.

We identified the need for documenting proceeses to progress further. The pilot task, thus was for us to capture processes across all functions from business to support functions like HR, IT and finance in a consistent, seamless manner.

Consolidated an exhaustive list of processes across functions. Detailed process walkthroughs using multiple mediums to clearly capture 'As-Is' process flows in IBM blue works Tool. Review of process mapping tools available in market and presenting a detailed comparative study for the client to evaluate and enable judgement. Establishing process linkages which were key to cull out End to End process mapping. Mapping of systems / owners across various stages of processes. Product codes defined and added to process maps to facilitate further product mappings.

Outcome

About 25 High Level ‘As-Is’ processes covered across all 4 verticals (Retail, Commercial, Consumer & Business Critical) as part of scope. 500+ Process maps (i.e. Blueprints) created 400+ activities linked across processes to establish clear linkages 150+ Existing Systems / Applications mapped process activity-wise the tool and the process mapping exercise. Became so popular that eventually the parent company was keen on embracing the same helped identify potential opportunities for next phase enabled data analysis for future decisioning using the tool.
